Every service includes a full safety inspection, a clean of the key components and a written report. Repairs and 24 hour callouts are available.

A yearly boiler service is the cheapest insurance in your house. It keeps the warranty valid, catches wear and small faults before they become winter breakdowns, and keeps the boiler running at the efficiency it was designed for. Skipping it costs more in the long run than paying for it.

A standard MCH service is £65. Mick inspects the case seals and combustion, cleans the burner and heat exchanger, tests the flue for correct emissions, checks gas pressures and controls, and gives you a written service report you can show your insurer or manufacturer. If anything needs attention, you get a clear explanation and a price before we go further.

Larger properties, older systems or landlord jobs run up to about £420 depending on how many appliances need certifying and how much time the safety inspection takes. Landlord CP12 Gas Safety Certificates are issued on the same visit wherever possible.

If your boiler is already playing up, this is the same visit that catches it. Mick diagnoses the fault, orders any part you need, and gets you back on hot water and heating as quickly as parts allow. Emergency callouts are available 24 hours a day for genuine no heat, no hot water or gas safety issues.

Are you Gas Safe registered?

Yes. Every job Mick carries out is done under Gas Safe registration and he is happy to show his ID card on site. You can also confirm the registration on the Gas Safe Register website, which is the legal register for anyone working on gas appliances in the UK.

How long have you been trading?

MCH Heating & Gas Engineers was founded in 2022 by Mick Chatt, who grew up in Darlington. Mick has hands on gas and heating experience behind that and personally handles every job, so you always deal with the same engineer from quote to handover.

Do you offer 24 hour callouts?

Yes. Genuine emergencies such as no heat, no hot water or a gas safety concern get a 24 hour response. Call 07854 025 371 at any time and Mick will let you know how quickly he can be with you. Non urgent bookings are made during normal Mon to Fri 08:00 to 18:00 hours.

What payment methods do you accept?

Bank transfer and card payments are both fine. Payment is due on completion of the work, and the price you pay is the price quoted in writing. For larger installation jobs, Mick is happy to discuss splitting the payment between deposit and completion.

Are your quotes free?

Yes. All installation quotes are free and there is no obligation to book. Mick will come out, look at the property, ask what you actually need, and follow up with a clear itemised price. If the job is not for you, that is the end of it.

How much does a new boiler cost?

A new boiler installed by MCH runs from about £1,300 for a straightforward like for like swap up to around £5,000 for full system upgrades, radiator work or awkward first time fits. What boiler brands do you install?

MCH installs every major boiler brand, including Worcester Bosch, Vaillant, Baxi, Ideal, Glowworm and Alpha. The right choice depends on your budget, your priorities and the warranty length you want. Mick will show you two or three sensible options at the quote stage rather than picking one for you.

Do you remove the old boiler?

Yes. Removing and disposing of your old boiler is included in the installation price. Everything goes to a licensed recycler, the pipework is capped where needed, and the room is left tidy. You never need to arrange skip hire or disposal yourself.

Yes. Once the boiler is commissioned Mick registers the manufacturer warranty in your name and gives you the paperwork on the day. You get a Benchmark Certificate, the warranty registration and the service record, all filled in properly so the cover stays valid year on year.
